No real payments are being taken, and it isn’t on any site yet. It’s coming soon. There’s no screenshot yet; it’ll get one when it ships. Picture someone who wants to join your membership asking their AI assistant to sign them up. Today the assistant can tell them about you, but it can’t finish the job. They still have to come back to your site and go through checkout themselves. You’d want that member. You probably wouldn’t want software spending someone’s money without a person saying yes. Neither would we, so that’s where we started. ## What we’re testing We’re testing a way for an AI assistant to buy a membership on your site. When one does, the purchase is recorded in MemberPress as a normal MemberPress purchase. While it’s in testing, it charges through one payment gateway only, in test mode. ## You decide whether it happens at all - **It’s off until you turn it on.** There are two switches, and both start off: one for your site, “Let AI assistants buy memberships”, and one on each membership, “Available to AI assistants”. An assistant can only buy the memberships you’ve switched on. - **It’s on every plan.** It works on every MemberPress.ai plan, free included. ## A person approves every price Nothing is charged until a person approves the exact price. That person is either the buyer, signed in to your site, or you, as the site’s admin. There’s no setting that skips this step. And if the price changes after it was approved, the purchase is refused, so nobody pays an amount they didn’t see. ## What it doesn’t do yet It runs in test mode only. Renewals aren’t automatic yet: if the membership is a recurring one, an assistant’s purchase records the first period only. ## The same rule for your own account This works for your MemberPress.ai account too. Your own AI assistant can buy MemberPress.ai credits or a prepaid month of the paid plan, but only after you approve the exact price in the MemberPress.ai app. The assistant can’t approve its own purchase, and each purchase is charged at most once. That’s in testing too. ## What it means for you When it’s ready, someone who wants to join can say so to the assistant they already use, and the membership shows up in MemberPress like any other. You still choose what’s for sale, and a person still says yes to every price. You stay the owner. The assistant just does the legwork.
