Put the MemberPress.ai Plugin next to WPVibe, and the AI assistant you already use can look up your members, sales, and courses. Nothing to wire up.

You probably already ask Claude or ChatGPT for help with your site. The catch has always been that it can’t see your membership. It knows WordPress in general. It doesn’t know who joined this week, which plan they picked, or which students stopped halfway through your course.

If you use WPVibe, that changes as soon as the MemberPress.ai Plugin is on your site.

## What “MCP” means here

MCP is the plug that lets an AI assistant use tools on another system. [WPVibe](https://wordpress.org/plugins/vibe-ai/) is that plug for WordPress: you connect it once to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or whichever assistant you use, and the assistant can work on your site.

The MemberPress.ai Plugin registers its membership tools with WordPress itself, and WPVibe finds whatever a plugin registers. So there’s nothing to configure between the two. Install both, and the tools show up in your assistant. That’s the “out of the box” part. It needs WordPress 6.9 or later, the version that lets plugins register tools this way.

## What you can ask today

Ask the way you’d ask a person. Your assistant picks the right tool.

- “Who signed up this week, and on which membership?”
- “Look up Jane’s account. What is she on, and when did she last pay?”
- “Pull my revenue report for September.”
- “Show me the churn report for the last quarter.”
- “Does this member have access to my pricing guide page?”
- “How far has Marco got in my onboarding course?”
- “Which coupons do I have, and which ones are still active?”

Every answer comes from your own site, at the moment you ask.

## What your assistant can change

WPVibe signs in with a WordPress Application Password, and the MemberPress.ai Plugin gives each app connected that way its own access. A new app gets Full access, so your assistant can create, refund, cancel, and change things with MemberPress.ai’s tools, not only look them up.

You can set any app to Read only. This needs version 1.6.3 or later of the MemberPress.ai Plugin. If your site has an older version, update the plugin first. Then, in WordPress, go to MemberPress AI, then AI agents, then Your assistants (MCP). Each app has a row in the MCP connections list, and its Access column lets you pick Read only or Full access. An app shows up there the first time it uses MemberPress.ai’s tools. If it connected before you updated the plugin, it keeps the access it already had: Read only, unless you had turned on changes before.

With Full access, your assistant can make only the changes the WordPress account behind the password is allowed to make through MemberPress.ai. Administrators are allowed by default. Some of those changes move real money, like a refund, and each one is recorded in the plugin’s activity log. To stop every change from every assistant at once, turn off “Assistants can make changes” on the same screen. Assistants can still read.

Read only covers MemberPress.ai’s tools. The password still carries everything that WordPress account can do, and WPVibe’s other tools can use it. Step 2 below says which account to connect from.

If you’d rather choose more closely what an assistant can touch, connect it to your site through the plugin’s setup wizard instead. You pick what it can do, every change shows you a preview first, and refunds and subscription changes ask you a second time. [Using MemberPress.ai from your own AI client](https://memberpress.ai/help/using-your-own-ai-client/) walks through it.

## How to connect

1. Put MemberPress and the free MemberPress.ai Plugin on your site. [The connect page](https://memberpress.ai/connect/) has the download and the steps.
2. Install WPVibe from WordPress.org and connect it to your assistant by following WPVibe’s own steps. Approving the connection creates a WordPress Application Password for the account you’re signed in as, and WPVibe holds it. That password can do anything the account can do in WordPress, so connect from a dedicated WordPress user with no more access than you want your assistant to have, not your own login. Out of the box, administrators can see MemberPress data.
3. Ask your assistant one of the questions above.

## Where Opal fits

WPVibe is the way in if you already live in Claude or ChatGPT. If you’d rather not set anything up, [Opal](https://memberpress.ai/for-humans/), the assistant inside your MemberPress.ai account, answers the same kind of question in the app, and she remembers what you tell her about your business.

## See it in the webinar

On October 1, Blair Williams and John Turner, WPVibe’s founder, ran a session on building, running, and fixing a membership site just by asking Claude or ChatGPT. [The replay is here](https://memberpress.com/ai-webinar-replay-k7q2/).

## Worth knowing

### Do I have to set anything up between WPVibe and MemberPress.ai?

No. The MemberPress.ai Plugin registers its membership tools with WordPress itself, and WPVibe finds whatever a plugin registers. Install both, connect WPVibe to your assistant, and the tools are there. Your site needs WordPress 6.9 or later.

### Can my assistant refund, cancel, or change a member through WPVibe?

Yes, by default, unless you set that app to Read only. Each app gets Full access when it first connects, or Read only if you choose. This needs version 1.6.3 or later of the MemberPress.ai Plugin, so if your site has an older version, update the plugin first. To change it, go to MemberPress AI, then AI agents, then Your assistants (MCP), and pick Read only in that app's Access column. With Full access, your assistant can make only the changes that WordPress account is allowed to make, some of them move real money, and each one is recorded in the plugin's activity log. To stop every change at once, turn off "Assistants can make changes" on the same screen. WPVibe's other tools can do whatever that account can do either way.

### Do I need a MemberPress.ai plan for this?

No. The tools WPVibe uses come from the free MemberPress.ai Plugin on your own site. A paid plan adds the advisor in your MemberPress.ai account, which is a separate connection.

## Add the MemberPress.ai Plugin and ask your assistant about your members.

One free plugin on your own site. Your assistant can look things up right away, and make changes too, unless you set it to Read only in the plugin's list of connected assistants. That setting needs version 1.6.3 or later, so if yours is older, update the plugin first.
