# Check the sources behind an answer

Updated October 21, 2026

Use the sources behind an answer to check its claims before acting. A citation gives you something to inspect; it does not guarantee that every sentence in the answer is correct.

This example checks an answer about membership products and content rules. The answer overstates that every rule points to a membership. The cited documentation also describes access for a specific member.

## Compare the answer with its sources

1. Open **Sources** below the answer.
2. Open the cited documentation and find the condition the answer describes.
3. Check exceptions before applying the advice to your site.

In this example, [Protect Content With MemberPress](https://memberpress.com/docs/protect-content-with-memberpress/) explains product conditions that require an active subscription to the selected membership. [Rules Overview](https://memberpress.com/docs/rules-overview/) also describes member-specific access. A rule therefore does not always need a membership condition.

The walkthrough reads public documentation. It changes no rule or membership and does not test access enforcement.
