# Pocket: MemberPress.ai on your phone

Updated October 10, 2026

Pocket is MemberPress.ai on a phone. It runs the same advisor, connects the same sites, and shows the same queue of drafts and publish confirmations, in a form you can keep on a home screen.

![Pocket on a phone before it is paired, showing the heading Pair this device, a Sign in to MemberPress.ai button, a Scan the code button, and a Get a code to type link](https://memberpress.ai/images/help/pocket-pair-device.png)

## Pairing is how you get in

Open Pocket and it asks you to pair the device. **Sign in to MemberPress.ai** still pairs the phone: it opens the pairing page in your phone’s browser, where you sign in and press **Approve**. Or skip the password: approve the phone somewhere you are already signed in. A phone keyboard is a bad place to type a password, which is why the second way exists.

You approve a pairing at [app.memberpress.ai/pair](https://app.memberpress.ai/pair), on a computer where your session is already open. Everything below is two views of the same flow: the phone asking, and the computer answering.

## Getting it onto your phone

Open [pocket.memberpress.ai](https://pocket.memberpress.ai) in your phone’s browser and add it to your home screen. On iPhone and iPad, open the page in Safari first: iOS does not offer Add to Home Screen from Chrome or Firefox. On Android and desktop browsers, use the browser’s Install or Add to Home Screen menu. After you are signed in, Pocket can show the steps for the phone you are holding if it is not already installed as an app.

The pairing page on your computer also offers a QR code for this step, under **1\. Install Pocket**. It carries nothing but the address, so it is safe to scan with your phone’s ordinary camera. That is the one difference between the two codes on that page, and it matters in a way the next section explains.

## Pairing, the quick way

With Pocket installed and open:

1. On your computer, go to [app.memberpress.ai/pair](https://app.memberpress.ai/pair).
2. Tap **Scan the code** in Pocket and point it at the pairing code under **2\. Pair it**.
3. Pocket signs itself in.

Scan it from inside Pocket, not with your phone’s camera app. Your camera opens links in the browser, and an installed app keeps storage separate from the browser that installed it. A code opened in the browser is spent there, and Pocket stays signed out with nothing to show for it.

That second code is a live credential for as long as it is on screen, which is why it expires in about a minute, counts down while you walk to your phone, and works only once. If it runs out, click **Show a new code** on the pairing page. Nothing mints a fresh code on its own after it expires, because a code nobody asked for is a credential sitting on an unattended monitor.

## Pairing without a camera

If you tap **Scan the code**, your phone may ask whether Pocket can use the camera. Allow it if you want to scan. If you decline, if Pocket cannot open the camera, or you are on a device with no camera, Pocket tells you to use a typed code instead.

Tap **Get a code to type** whenever scanning is not an option. Pocket shows a short code, you type it into the pairing page on your computer, and you approve it there. Codes last ten minutes and work once. Only approve a code that Pocket on your phone showed you — not a short code or prefilled link someone else sent. If yours expires before you approve, tap **Get a code to type** again in Pocket.

This direction is safer than scanning the live claim QR: you type a short code from the phone instead of photographing an unattended monitor. The claim QR under **2\. Pair it** stays on screen while you pair, so do not treat either screen as safe to share.

A link carrying a code fills the box for you and stops there, because a link that approved on load would hand your account to whoever sent it. Clicking approve still requires a conscious choice, and that choice on a code you did not start on your own device grants full account access.

## What you can do from Pocket

Ask the advisor about your site and read the answer, the same conversation you would have on a computer. Connect a WordPress site by typing its address and approving once on your own site. The WordPress password stays on your site. For the full connect steps, see [Connecting your site](https://memberpress.ai/help/connecting-your-site/). The same queue of drafts and publish confirmations is there too (see [Which changes ask you to confirm](https://memberpress.ai/help/what-you-approve/)). Publish asks you to confirm before the page goes public.

## Seeing and removing devices

The pairing page lists every paired Pocket device. If you see one you do not recognise, or you have replaced a phone, remove it from there. Removal takes effect within about 15 minutes on that device’s next check-in. Each device can be removed independently, and Pocket on your other devices stays signed in.

This list is the reason the QR path is comfortable to offer at all. A visible code is a small risk taken knowingly, and the answer to it is being able to see what came in and remove it.

## FAQ

### Do I need a password to sign in to Pocket?

Every way in pairs the phone. Tap Sign in to MemberPress.ai to sign in in the phone's browser and approve the pairing there, or approve the phone from a computer where you are already signed in, with no password to type. Only approve a code that appeared on a device you control — approval grants full account access.

### I scanned the code with my phone's camera and Pocket still says it is not paired.

Scan from inside Pocket, using its own scanner. Your phone's camera app opens links in the browser, and the installed app keeps its own separate storage, so a code redeemed in the browser never reaches it.

### Someone I do not recognise is on my device list. What do I do?

Remove that paired Pocket device from the same page you pair from. Each paired Pocket device is listed there and can be removed on its own. Removal takes effect within about 15 minutes on the device’s next check-in, and removing one does not affect the others.
