The Coaching Package That Sells Isn't the One That Looks Best on Paper

MemberPress covers five coaching package models. MemberPress.ai tells you which one fits your actual business

Responding to MemberPress's original post.

MemberPress recently published a solid rundown of five coaching package models: the Bespoke Library (High-Ticket 1:1), the Ascension Ladder, the Cohort Launch, Membership + Coaching Add-Ons, and the Course-First Funnel. It’s a genuine resource. If you’ve never thought structurally about how to bundle your coaching, that post is a good place to start.

But here’s where most coaches get stuck: they read all five models, recognize pieces of themselves in two or three, and still don’t know which one to build.

That’s not a content problem. That’s a specificity problem.

The MemberPress post does what a good public article has to do: it covers the landscape so it’s useful to the widest possible reader. What it can’t do is look at your retention numbers, your current offer, and your audience’s behavior to tell you which model will actually work for you.

Generic advice picks the model that sounds most like your situation. A specific answer picks the model that fits what your members already do.

Here’s what that difference looks like in practice. Two coaches might both describe themselves as offering “a mix of group content and 1:1 check-ins.” Generic advice gives them the same model. But if one has strong renewal but quiet community threads, and the other has low renewal but busy community threads, those are two different businesses with two different problems. One needs a community layer, not more content. The other needs a milestone-gated progression structure.

Same surface description. Opposite prescriptions.

MemberPress.ai can tell you which one applies to you because it works from your data, not the average of everyone who answered “a mix of group content and 1:1.” It knows your churn window, where members disengage, and what your highest-retention cohorts have in common. The answer it gives you isn’t one of five options from a list. It’s the specific configuration that fits what’s already happening in your business.

If you’ve built something and you’re trying to figure out why it isn’t converting the way you expected, the question isn’t which model to pick. It’s what your actual members are telling you with their behavior.

The five models are real. Knowing which one is yours is the work. Start with what your members are already showing you, and the right structure follows.

Worth knowing

What if I already have a coaching package and it isn't selling well?

The issue is usually positioning or a mismatch between the offer and what your audience actually wants, not the model itself. Understanding where your current members drop off tells you more than switching models would.

Does MemberPress.ai recommend a specific coaching package structure?

It gives you a recommendation based on your retention data and member behavior, not a general best practice. The structure it points to is the one that fits what's already working in your business.
