A 7-day plan for coaches

Get your coaching program taking payments

You had the program planned. Then client work took every week, and the site never got as far as a checkout. Here’s a plan for one week of your own: what you do each day, and the day Opal does the setup with you.

It’s a plan, not a deadline. Your host, your payment account and your client calendar set the pace, and a step that takes two days is fine.

You’ll need WordPress with MemberPress on a host of your own. We don’t host it or install it for you. What you need for a site.

Your week, day by day

Each day says who does it. Most of it is you. Day 2 is where Opal takes the setup off your hands.

  1. Day 1

    You

    Get your site ready

Make sure you have WordPress with MemberPress on your own host, and that you can log in to your site’s wp-admin. MemberPress’s free version is fine.

No site yet? Pick a host that lets you install plugins, then install WordPress on it.

  2. Day 2

    You, then Opal

Connect your site and tell Opal about your program

Install the free MemberPress.ai Plugin and connect your site. Then Opal asks what your coaching business does. Tell her who you coach, what you offer and what you want to charge.

From that one conversation, she sets up your memberships and their prices, and creates your Join, Checkout, Login and Account pages as drafts.

  3. Day 3

    You, with Opal on Pro

    Put yourself in the pages

Opal’s drafts give you the shape. The story, your approach and the facts about your program are yours, so add them in your own words.

On Pro, at $79 a month, ask Opal to draft a course outline for your program. It arrives as a draft, and drafting a course uses credits.

  4. Day 4

    You

Connect your own Stripe or PayPal

In MemberPress’s payment settings, connect your own Stripe or PayPal account. It’s your account, with your own login, so Opal can’t do this step for you.

Nothing can take payment until you connect Stripe or PayPal. If you only do one thing this week, make it this.

  5. Day 5

    You

    Publish your pages

Read your memberships and pages through once more, check every membership you want to sell has a price, and publish them. Publishing is your call, and you make it once you’re happy with them.

  6. Day 6

    You

    Buy your own membership

Make one real purchase of your own membership, with a real card at the real checkout, then refund it.

Check the payment went through, the welcome email arrived and you landed where you expected. That first real card shows you what a client will see.

  7. Day 7

    You

    Share your signup link

Send your signup link to the people who already asked whether you had a program: an email to them, a pinned post, or the top of the page you send people to most.

When your first client pays, the money goes to your own Stripe or PayPal account. After that, on the paid plan, a weekly note tells you who joined and what came in, and you hear about it when a payment fails.

What it costs

On Pro, at $79 a month, Opal also drafts a course outline for your program. Drafting a course uses credits.

You say it once. Opal handles the rest.

Connect your coaching site and tell Opal about your program, once. She sets up the memberships, the prices and the pages. Your payment account, publishing and the test purchase stay with you.
