Connect ChatGPT to MemberPress.ai

Ask ChatGPT about your members and your revenue, and have it draft for your site, from the chat you already use. ChatGPT connects to your MemberPress.ai account. You sign in, choose what it may do, and can disconnect it at any time.

Before you start

  • You need the paid plan (Pro). On the free plan, Also connect the advisor (paid) shows Upgrade to Pro instead of the server URL.
  • At least one site connected to MemberPress.ai. If you haven’t connected one yet, start with Connecting your site.
  • A ChatGPT account that can add a custom MCP server. On a work or school workspace, your workspace’s settings decide whether you can.

Connect ChatGPT

  1. In the MemberPress.ai app, open Settings → AI assistants and find Also connect the advisor (paid). Copy the server URL shown there. It is https://api.memberpress.ai/api/v1/mcp.
  2. In ChatGPT, open Plugins. Choose the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Give it a name, such as MemberPress.ai, and paste the URL as the server URL. Choose OAuth for sign-in. There’s no return address to type in; ChatGPT picks it up during setup. Read ChatGPT’s warning, choose I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
  4. ChatGPT sends you to MemberPress.ai. Sign in if you need to. The screen names ChatGPT and the sites it will have access to, and says access will be sent to chatgpt.com. Most things start ticked. Buy credits, or a month of Pro starts unticked; tick it only if you want it. Untick what you don’t want, then choose Allow access.
  5. ChatGPT now appears under Connected AI assistants in Settings → AI assistants. In a new ChatGPT conversation, type @ and choose MemberPress.ai.

What ChatGPT asks to do

Each of these is one checkbox on the screen in step 4:

  • See the names of the sites connected to your account.
  • Ask the MemberPress.ai advisor about those sites, including their members, revenue and transaction history.
  • Generate posts and pages for those sites. Generating spends credits from your account.
  • Change the business type on those sites, and sync their data. A profile change can be undone afterward; each sync counts toward your monthly syncs.
  • Write finished drafts to your WordPress sites. Drafts are never published, and can be deleted on the site.
  • Connect a WordPress site you own. The connection is approved on that site, with your own WordPress login.
  • Set up a site you have just connected: create its membership levels and put them on sale. After that first setup, everything is drafted for your review.
  • Buy credits, or a month of Pro. Nothing is charged until you confirm the exact price yourself (Agent payments).

Disconnect ChatGPT

  • In MemberPress.ai: open Settings → AI assistants. Under Connected AI assistants, choose Revoke on ChatGPT’s row, then Revoke again. It stops working straight away. To use it again, connect it again.
  • Change access on the same row lets you untick things instead. History shows what ChatGPT did.
  • In ChatGPT: open Plugins and remove MemberPress.ai, so ChatGPT stops offering it.

What to ask first

  • “Why are members cancelling, and what should I do this week?”
  • “What changed my revenue last month?”
  • “What’s the one thing I should fix first?”

Drafts land in your WordPress editor unpublished.

ChatGPT goes ahead with most changes without stopping to ask you. See Which changes ask you to confirm.
