Syncing, and what an answer is 'as of'
MemberPress.ai answers from a copy of your site, taken at your last sync. It does not query your live database when you ask a question. That is what keeps answers fast and your site unbothered, and it is also why an answer carries a date: it was true as of that sync.
How often it syncs
| Plan | Schedule | How far back it reads | Refreshes on demand |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Every 30 days | The last 30 days of transactions | 30 a month |
| Paid | Daily | Your whole history, with no window | 1,000 a month |
On either plan, Sync now refreshes a site the moment you want to, without waiting for the schedule. On paid, the daily schedule keeps the copy current on its own. A free account gets a scheduled sync every 30 days, so Sync now is the way to pick up a change in between. Once the month’s refreshes are used up, Sync now doesn’t start a sync. It shows “You’ve used this month’s on-demand syncs. Your site still syncs on its schedule.”
The 30-day window on free is worth reading twice. A free account can see the last month and answer well about it, but a question about last year’s renewals has nothing behind it and the assistant will say so rather than guess.
What “as of” means in an answer
When the assistant gives you a figure it is reporting what your site looked like at the last sync. A membership you created five minutes ago is not in that copy yet, and neither is this morning’s payment.
This shows up most clearly in Recipes, where a step that builds something on your site is checked against the synced copy before the recipe moves on. If the copy has not caught up, the check returns can’t tell rather than not there, and the recipe waits or lets you skip. The same caution is why the assistant will name the sync date rather than pretend to freshness it does not have.
Your dashboard says which state a site is in
Each connected site carries its sync state, so you can tell a quiet site from a broken one at a glance. A healthy site shows when it last synced, such as Synced today. A site with a problem shows one of these badges, with a hint underneath saying what to do:
- Reconnect needed: the site’s connection stopped working. Reconnect it from wp-admin.
- Sync failing: syncs are failing.
- Sync behind: the last sync is older than it should be; MemberPress.ai keeps retrying.
- Update needed (on the site panel only, not the dashboard): something on the site needs changing before syncing can continue. The hint names it.
Reconnect needed and Sync failing are connection problems rather than data problems, and Connection troubleshooting covers what to do about it.
What syncing costs you
No credits, ever. Credits are only spent generating content, which Credits covers.
Refreshing on demand has its own monthly allowance, separate from credits: 30 on Free and 1,000 on paid. A scheduled sync does not count against it.
FAQ
How often does my site sync?
Free syncs every 30 days. Paid syncs daily. Both plans can also refresh on demand with Sync now: up to 30 times a month on Free and 1,000 on paid.
How far back does it read?
Free reads the last 30 days of transactions. The paid plan reads your whole history, with no window.
Why does an answer look out of date?
Because it is as of your last sync. Ask the assistant when the site last synced, then refresh. A membership you created five minutes ago will not be there until the next sync.
