Asking the assistant in the app
The assistant in your MemberPress.ai account is the one you talk to in the app, without connecting anything of your own. It answers questions about your membership business from your own site’s data.
What it can answer
Ask it in plain language and it will work from your real figures rather than generalities:
- Why revenue moved in a month, split into new members, expansion, contraction and churn (paid plan).
- Which memberships hold people and which lose them.
- What a number on your dashboard means and what usually sits behind it.
When your site does not carry the data an answer needs, it says what is missing instead of estimating. That refusal is deliberate, and it is the reason an answer you do get is worth acting on.
What it can put on your site
On the paid plan it can draft content and place it on your site for you: ask it to write a post or a page, then ask it to put the finished piece in your editor. What lands is a draft, unpublished, with no public URL, and deleting it removes it. One exception: for a pricing page it also fills your MemberPress pricing page’s title and subheadline if they are empty, and deleting the draft doesn’t undo that. Drafting spends credits and placing the draft does not, which Credits covers.
What it cannot do
It does not publish your drafts, refund a payment, cancel a subscription or change a price, and there is no way to argue it into one. The one time it creates memberships is when it sets up a brand-new site: it shows you exactly what it will create and adds the membership levels to your site as drafts for you to publish. You publish them when you tap Looks right, make it live in the setup chat in your WordPress admin. Refunds, cancellations and price changes live on your site’s own endpoint, behind the approvals described in Which changes ask you to confirm, or in wp-admin.
Two more things it does beyond answering. It can remember something you tell it about your business, so you are not re-explaining yourself every week, and you can ask it to forget the same way. And it can hand you the new-site intake, a short set of questions. Two of its three opening answers end in a money plan for the site; the third, for an audience you have somewhere else, says on the page that it is not built yet.
It reads a copy, not your live site
Every answer comes from the copy MemberPress.ai syncs from your site, so it is as current as your last sync and no more. Ask when the site last synced and it will tell you. See Syncing for how often that happens on your plan and what to do when an answer looks behind.
Where to go for more
Driving the product from Claude or another client, rather than the app, is a second door with a wider surface. See Using your own AI client. For what the free and paid tiers each include, see Plans.
FAQ
Can the assistant in the app change my site?
On the paid plan it can write a post or page and place it in your editor as an unpublished draft. Separately, on any plan, when you set up a brand-new site it can add your membership levels and pages as drafts, after you agree to its plan. They stay drafts until you publish them. It cannot refund a payment, cancel a subscription or change a price.
Is it reading my site live?
No. It reads the copy MemberPress.ai syncs from your site, so an answer is as fresh as your last sync. Ask it when your site last synced and it will tell you.
Does it remember what I tell it?
Yes. You can ask it to remember something about your business, and you can ask it to forget. On the paid plan it also keeps preferences about how you want it to answer, and both are yours to change.
